The Home Science Association of India was established in 1950 with its head quarters in M. S. University, Baroda. Since then the association has grown in stature and has established several state branches with more than 2500 members. The major aim of the association is to promote the welfare of the family through sound home making education in teaching institutions besides encouraging research. It also works to raise the technical competence and standards of profession in the field of the Home Science and allied subjects.
Home Science education encompassing five major disciplines caters to the needs of the society towards a sustainable living through traditional and novel technologies. There is a felt need to transfer these technologies to the far and needy. To accomplish this endeavour the 31 Biennial National Conference is being organised by the Home Science Association of India (Dharwad Chapter) at University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad with a befitting concept Science & Technology for Reaching the Unreached.
